Psalm 23 – A Psalm of David
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
The scriptures above describe that God is our leader and he walks us to a beautiful place “ He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside quite waters” where this situation illustrate of security, peace and contentment. But then the verse continue to tell us about different situation where it is very dark and lowest place.
“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
From this single verse where we go from green pasture to the darkest valley, we may experience same situation in our live. Not everything that we have been through always smooth, not everything that happen in our live same as what we expected, we also have been through rough situation, uncertainties, unexpected circumstance and trials. However, no matter what has happened to us and where we are, God never leave us. He is always there for us. The scriptures say that Even though I walk through the dark valley and not even though I end up which means that all of these trials, rough situation, and uncertainties are just temporary and we don’t have to be stuck in that situation and we will pass through it. This scriptures gives us a reassurance even though that we are in the bad situation always remember our God is always good and He will bring us to place of safe, peace and victory.
Readers, we are now stepping in half way of the year of new heights where God want to bring us to new better place and situation and not trapped in the darkest valley. Some people feel differently when it comes to experiencing with God. Here are some of testimonies from our beloved brothers and sisters that can renew and strengthen our faith which remain us that the trials and bad situation only happen impermanent, God will lead us to a place of rest and safety.
I just recently got accepted in one of the big 4 accounting firm for 6 months contract employment. I believe it is God’s work as they are looking for graduates with experience and I only have 1 month of professional accounting experience. Normally they only hire Australian citizen or permanent resident too. I was struggling to find a full time job, but I kept praying so that I at least can experience an interview. I was actually INVITED for the interview (an agent messaged me via LinkedIn), and it was not even advertised anywhere. The interview and test were really difficult (it is big 4 after all so that is expected), and I was not sure if my answers were enough. I was still grateful for the interview opportunity though, as that is what I have been praying for. I keep praying that if God really wants me to work there, then everything will be alright. 3 weeks later, the agent called me to notify that I am hired. Yes it is not a full time, but I believe God has His own timing and we should always have faith and believe in His timing.
When I graduated university in 2010, I found out that my engineering degree was not listed in Skilled Occupation List, therefore I could not apply for Permanent Residency. Instead, I obtained Temporary Residence Visa and blessed to get a job in this company. Recently, God has given me an opportunity to obtain Permanent Residency in a way that I did not expect, of which came from the company. The progress surely wasn’t easy and I almost gave up few times. But God has opened many ways that allowed me to stay for 6.5 years since I graduated until now. Acts 1:7 says “it is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority”, for everyone that is still waiting for the visa or the answer to their prayers, be patient and never give up. God has worked through my life and He will do to you as well.
I have struggled to find a full time job after graduation and started to lose my hope in engineering after being let down so many times even when the interview feedback looked promising. I did trust in Him, but it was still not completely without doubt and worry. Only when I really surrender my future to Him and decided that I will be thankful no matter where I am and what I do, I start to have complete joy and peace. I was ready to relocate and work at remote area, far from Brisbane but I prayed that God won’t take this opportunity to serve and grow more in Him and let me find a Godly community wherever I go. Not long after, I was interviewed for a casual position and they offered me a permanent graduate position instead. None of this would happen without God’s grace, providence, and His helping hands. To God forever be the glory.
Shalom Everyone. I just want to share another blessing from GOD. Praise the Lord that I got my PR on 23rd of June 2017. A bit of background, I arrived in Australia on 2009 with the intention only to study, get graduated and go back home. However, I decided to look for work experience in Australia after I graduated due to my student visa still valid for another few months after. Amazingly, God brought me to this small PC store in Surabaya just for a short ‘internship’ to prepare myself on job searching process later. But who knows by put this store as one of the experience in my resume, I get a job not long after and from this company they sponsor my visa! Sometimes we don’t understand God’s work until we just persevere it and endure the journey then look back to only realise how great and wonderful our God is. Be blessed and stay awesome!
